Spring Competition Award Winners

There’s nothing quite like a spring weekend in the Okanagan – especially one filled with remarkable BC wine.

After a long winter, the Valley bursts to life during Spring Okanagan Wine Festival– held for ten days each year during the first two weekends of May. Over 100 events happen in and around the Okanagan during the spring festival, with restaurants and wineries hosting everything from light lunches to swank dinners.

Wine releases, food pairings and live performances – you name it, we’ve got it.
And all with our award-winning BC wines.

      Best of Varietal Competition

Put a bunch of BC winemakers in a room and let them duke it out.

Well, okay – it’s not quite like that. The Best of Varietal is a blind-tasted peer review by BC winemakers to judge wines in popular consumer categories. BCWA judging coordinators flit around in flurry of activity for weeks, gathering judges and following up with nominees.

By late April, winemaker judges and wine entries are tucked away in a big room at an undisclosed location (perhaps not quite that covert). Judges swirl, sniff, sip and spit their way through the dozens of entries to find that one shining star. It’s a tough gig.
