2011 FALL JUDGING COMPETITION

Its time to start planning for this year’s Fall Judging Competition!
Please read this carefully
Eligibility Requirements:
- Wineries must be in good standing with the Okanagan Wine Festivals Sociery (OWFS)
- To be eligible for the "Best New Winery Award" a winery must have become licensed in 2008-2011 and you must check the box in your application.
- Wine is bottled and labelled.
- Table wines have an inventory of 50 cases at time of entry and five cases at the time of the Awards
Announcement on September 29 in Kelowna.
- Specialty wines have an inventory of 25 cases at time of entry and two cases at the consumer tasting.
- Wines must be made from 100% BC grown grapes or fruit grown according to VQA standards as sworn in the affidavit below.
- MEMBER wineries entries must be accompanied by an entry fee of $84.00 (+hst) per wine entered.
- NON-MEMBER wineries entries must be accompanied by an entry fee of $125.00 (+hst) per wine entered.
- If a wine of a particular vintage has won a gold medal in this annual competition, it may not be entered again.
- Entry Form(s) and payment must be received no later than Friday, Sept 3, 2010 at the Wine Festivals Society Office at 1527 Ellis St, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2A7. Please note the address for our administrative offices.
- DELIVERY: Please note this year we will have our judging competition take place at the Manteo Resort, 3762 Lakeshore Rd, Kelowna BC. We will only accept wine delivery as such: Delivery should be 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday September 19 and Tuesday September 20.Wines should be delivered to our prep room at the hotel.
- Four bottles of each wine entered must be shipped and received on these dates. If these dates do NOT work then you must make alternate arrangements prior to these dates by contacting our office.
Other relevant info:
- An audit system put in place by an outside party whereby a random number of entries will be chosen and samples acquired and matched to the wines that were entered. The matching will be done by a professional panel and if the wines are deemed to be different, an analytical evaluation will be conducted by an independent lab. If a wine entered into the judging is found to be different than that which is available for sale, all the wines entered into the competition by the winery will be disqualified and the OWFS winery membership will be revoked
- The timing of the announcement for the medals for the BC Wine Awards Judging Competition will be at the “Medal Winners Wine Reception”, this event will occurs at 7pm on Thursday September 29. Also note that following the announcement, attendees will be able to sample some of the award winning wines, while enjoying tapas & canapés at the event. Wineries who enter into the competition will receive 2 complimentary tickets to this event.
