This epic event is held in advance of the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival. The British Columbia Wine Awards welcomes all B.C. wineries whether or not they are members of the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society. This is the only provincial wine judging competition open to all licensed wineries in British Columbia.
Nature of the Judging:
Entries are judged by a panel of 9 professional wine judges from across North America using the North American standard blind tasting points system. Awards are given based on attaining a certain minimum point score and Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards are presented. Roughly 50% of wines entered will receive a medal. In addition; four special awards of Best Red of Show, Best White of Show, Best Dessert, Best Sparkling Wine of Show and Best New Winery of show are awarded. In addition to the awards evening we offer the prestigious Founders Award who is nominated by their peers. This individual is someone who has significantly contributed to the growth of the Okanagan Wine Industry and has dedicated true passion for their love of wine.
